Gibberellin

Gibberellin is a growth hormone responsible for stem elongation, unlike auxin which contributes to elongation in the shoot area. Plants lacking Gibberellin tend to be dwarf.

Gibberellin A1 Chemical bond

Gibberellin is responsible for the elongation of fruits, resulting in larger fruit size.

Gibberellin is also crucial in seed germination; without it, seeds cannot germinate.

Gibberellin was discovered in Japan when rice plants grew taller and died without producing any seeds due to a fungal infection.
