Plant cell

Plant cell and it's Components

Nucleus

Responsible for housing the DNA and synthesizing ribosomes.

Central vacuole

Large membrane that fills much of the plant cell. Responsible for regulating the cell’s concentration of water.

Mitochondria

Responsible for making (ATP), the cell’s main energy-carrying molecule.

Cytoskeleton

A collection of protein filaments within the cytoplasm.

Cell wall

Provides structure and and gives shape to the cell, composed of cellulose. Only found in plant cells.

Plasma Membrane

Separates the internal contents of the cell from the surrounding environment.

Cytoplasm

The entire region between the plasma membrane and the nuclear envelope.

Chloroplast

Chloroplast are a type of Plastids Responsible of storing chlorophyll. Photosynthesis happens in the chloroplast.

Plastids

Plastids are a group of storage organelle found in plants and algae.

Peroxisomes

Responsible of carrying out oxidation reactions that break down fatty acids and amino acids which accumulate in the cytoplasm.

Golgi Apparatus

Responsible of distributing lipids and proteins. In plant cells it additionally synthesize polysaccharides.

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum has few or no ribosomes on its surface.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum

Interconnected membranous sacs and tubules responsible of modifying proteins and synthesizing lipids. Rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes along its surface.

Ribosomes

They are not organelles, rather a cellular structures responsible for protein synthesis. With a dot-like structures, it float freely in the cytoplasm.
